Anne Beatts (born February 25, 1947) is an American comedy writer.
Square Pegs creator Anne Beatts revealed the show's abrupt demise came from unfortunate circumstances behind the scenes - specifically, drug abuse among the teenage cast. Beatts revealed in 2015, "I think that certainly, there was some drug abuse or drug traffic that may have happened, because I would say that that is norm for a set".
Beatts wrote the book for the 1985 Ellie Greenwich jukebox musical Leader of the Pack and produced the first season of A Different World in 1987–1988. After several credits in the 1990s, Beatts eventually moved away from writing for television.

The 1977 book Saturday Night Live edited by Anne Beatts and John Head included a copy of a note from Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry praising the comedic bit. The sketch was released on a 1985 Saturday Night Live compilation VHS that featured The Best of John Belushi , and re-released with the same title in DVD format in 2011.

Beatts is currently serving as one of the judges for the comedy competition Project Breakout.  Beatts serves as Adjunct Professor in the Writing Division at the University of Southern California 's School of Cinematic Arts,  as well as at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
