The people in hiding are helped by Otto Frank’s four employees:Miep Gies, Johannes Kleiman, Victor Kugler and Bep Voskuijl. The helpers arrange food, clothes, books and all sorts of other necessities. In addition, they keep the people in hiding up-to-date with the news from Amsterdam. The four helpers divide the responsibilities.
The Frank family lives there for more than two years, at first on their own, later with the Van Pels family – Hermann, Auguste and their son Peter – and the dentist Fritz Pfeffer. In her diary, Anne Frank describes everyday life and living together in the secret annex.
