Anthony Burgess. John Anthony Burgess Wilson, FRSL ( / ˈbɜːrdʒəs /; [2] 25 February 1917 – 22 November 1993) who published under the name Anthony Burgess, was a British writer and composer. Dec 29, 2020 · Burgess's father remarried, to pub landlady Margaret Dwyer, in 1922, and Burgess returned to live with his father and new stepmother. His father died in 1938, leaving his son no inheritance. Burgess met his first wife, Lynne, while studying English language and literature at the Victoria University of Manchester between 1937 and 1940.
Anthony Burgess died at the age of 76 in London on 22 November 1993. His last novel, Byrne, was published posthumously in 1995. Andrew Burgess Wilson died in London from a cerebral haemorrhage in 2002. Liana Burgess died in Italy on 3 December 2007. In recent years there has been a worldwide revival of interest in Burgess’s writing.
