The son of the founder of Hammer Films (William Hinds), Anthony Hinds was educated at St Paul's School and in films since 1946 with Exclusive Films, producing a great many modest thrillers, before hitting the spot with The Quatermass Experiment (d. Val Guest) in 1955. He also produced the TV series Journey to the Unknown (LWT, 1968-71).
