Apex Legends Season 20 Patch Notes & Breakout Update Details

Breakout is the latest update debuting within Apex Legends, and brings with it the Legend Upgrades system, a Collection Event, Performance Mode, the return of Ranked, and more!
The Breakout season for Apex Legends is set to arrive on February 13th, 2024.
The Legend Upgrade system is a new in-match progression system that allows you to adapt your Legend to your preferred playstyle. Each match will restart this feature, letting you continually experiment each and every time. Both Legend Upgrades and the following EVO changes are limited to BR modes.
Earning EVO in a match will now cause your Legend to level up, bringing improvements to both your armor tier alongside additional unique upgrade selections at Levels 2 and 3.
You can earn EVO in a variety of ways, some sources being just for you, and others being for the entire squad. They are as follows:
•Personal
•Damage
•Knocks and Knock Assists
•Knocks against a legend of higher level will net an underdog XP bonus
EVO Harvesters are new contraptions that will randomly spawn on every BR map with a delayed activation during the first ring. Any squad member interacting with them will earn a large amount of EVO that is gifted to the entire squad. EVO Caches are a new rare loot item that will award a full level when collected. They can be found in a variety of highly-contested locations, including (but not limited to) vaults and supply drops. If you happen to already be max level, note that you'll be unable to pick up an EVO Cache.
Body Shields can no longer be found on the ground in Battle Royale, and aren't a loot item at all anymore. Instead, each Legend will have their own Legend Armor that will permanently increase in capacity as you level up in each match.
Legend Armor is supported by a Shield Core which contains the current shield HP. These Cores can be swapped or dropped at any time, and downed enemies will also drop Shield Cores in their Death Boxes.
You can now overcharge your Armor by picking up a Shield Core of a higher level, providing additional shield health for 30 seconds before slowly depleting back down to the Shields base capacity.
With the launch of Breakout, the Level requirement for Ranked will return to 20 and splits will also return, alongside a season reset. Every player will begin at 1 RP, and the split reset will drop your ranking by 6 divisions.
A larger emphasis is being placed on eliminations as opposed to placements with the launch of Breakout, where the value of each elimination increases the higher that your team places.
