Juan José Omella y Omella (also Joan Josep; [a] born 21 April 1946) is a Spanish prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He has been serving as the archbishop of Barcelona since his installation on 26 December 2015 and as a cardinal since 28 June 2017. He was the president of the Episcopal Conference of Spain from 2020 to 2024.
The cathedral archiepiscopal see is a Minor basilica: Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia, Barcelona. The archbishopric has nine more Minor basilicas. The current Archbishop of Barcelona is Juan José Omella Omella, appointed by Pope Francis on 6 November 2015.
On 26 December he became archbishop of Barcelona. He served as member of the Episcopal commission for social pastoral ministry until 1996, and as president from 2002 to 2008, and again from 2014 to 2017.
