Marvel Comics has released its plans for the new era of X-Men at the Future of Marvel Comics’ X-Men and Digital Comics today, and the news features three titles. In attendance from Marvel were Jed MacKay, Gail Simone, Tom Brevoort, and C.B. Cebulski, who are the new architects of the post-Krakoan Age X-Men.

Marvel Comics' Next Big Thing panel truly lived up to its name at NYCC. Among other big announcements, we received official confirmation that the current Krakoan era of the X-Men franchise is officially ending in 2024. The saga that began way back in 2019's House of X and Powers of X is coming to a close.
Rise of the Powers of X is written by Immortal X-Men's Kieron Gillen and drawn by Powers of X's R.B. Silva. This five-issue series takes place ten years into the Marvel Universe's future, as the X-Men rally to stop Nimrod and Omega Sentinel from summoning their machine god and destroying Earth in their ascension. As teased way back at the beginning of this overarching story, the true enemy in humanity and mutantkind's endless war is machine intelligence.
Not to be outdone, X-Men Red writer Al Ewing will be contributing his own series in this final chapter of the Krakoan Age. Ewing and Luciano Vecchio are collaborating on a four-issue series called Resurrection of Magneto. Magneto is one of the few mutants to die and stay dead in this era of unlimited resurrection. But with the resurrection circuit broken, can Storm find a way to bring the Master of Magnetism back to life to help in the final battle? Does he even want to come back?
It's clear now that the current X-Men saga will be wrapping up in Summer 2024. This seems to coincide with recent shake-ups in Marvel's editorial ranks, as we know current Avengers editor Tom Brevoort is making the jump to the X-Men line in 2024. Whatever Brevoort has planned for the franchise, we'll probably see those plans come to fruition in the latter half of the year.
All three new series will debut in January 2024.
