Retirement Information. Many Army National Guard Soldiers make the commitment to stay in the Guard for twenty years or more. Those who do have a number of benefits available to them, including retirement pay (which begins at age 60), "Space-A" travel, survivor benefit plan, SGLI, PX/BX/Commissary privileges, transient billeting and legal assistance.
A Soldier in the National Guard must have completed 20 years of qualifying service to be eligible for retired pay at age 60.
