Even for an epic fantasy novel, LotR has too many named characters. Glorfindel’s introduction, complete with backstory, is a significant demand on the reader’s mental resources.

Any time Twoflower is talking with anyone is so much fun. the same goes for Rincewind, but their intactions with each other are gold! I also love how the book takes fantasy world building (which in the wrong hands can be very tedious) and turns it on its side and shakes it a little.
