Badlands National Park protects 244,000 acres of striking rock formations and expansive mixed-grass prairie lands. The area is home to a variety of wildlife including bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, prairie dogs, and even one of America’s most endangered species, the black footed ferret.
With so much natural beauty to explore and wildlife to spot over its 244,000 acres, Badlands National Park has visitors all year long, though it is busiest in summer. The park is open 24 hours a day, with a higher volume of people visiting at midday.
