Barry Nelson. Actor. 15 April 1920 to 6 April 2007. The first man to portray James Bond on screen, American actor Nelson took the role in a 1954 live TV production of Casino Royale. He was, by that time, a Broadway star active in occasional film roles and television hits such as The Hunter (1952-54) and My Favorite Husband (1953-55).
Barry Nelson was an American actor, noted as the first actor to portray Ian Fleming’s secret agent James Bond. Nelson was born Robert Haakon Nielsen in San Francisco, California, of Norwegian ancestry, the son of Betsy and Trygve Nielsen. He began acting in school at the age of fifteen.
