  8. ELECTION RESULTS. WHY IS THERE AN ELECTION? Senate Bill 2 (88th Leg., 2nd C.S.) made several changes to the Tax Code regarding the composition of Appraisal Districts. In counties with a population of 75,000 or more, the appraisal district will be governed by a board of nine directors. The board is composed of both appointed and elected directors.
