    As a movie, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 is a far more cohesive product than its predecessor. The film’s not the only improvement though, as the Blu-ray disc is also a significantly better value than Part 1, featuring more interesting supplemental features and a better audio mix. Though there are some all new problems that crop up in Part 2, ultimately you’re getting more bang for your buck.

    The story picks up months after the conclusion of Part 1 and a few things are immediately apparent -- namely that Batman (Peter Weller) and Robin (Ariel Winter) have a much closer working relationship and Carrie Kelly has improved significantly in her role as the Girl Wonder. The Joker (Michael Emerson) awakens from his comatose state with the return of his one true love, Batman, now operating in Gotham once again.

    Meanwhile, the new police commissioner Ellen Yindel (Maria Canals-Barrera) has taken charge of the Gotham City Police Department to lead a manhunt for the Dark Knight. Outside of Gotham, the President of the USA deals with the Cold War crisis and sends Superman (Mark Valley) on a mission to stop his old pal Batman from making any more trouble.

    In the end, the adaptation of the Frank Miller classic sticks the landing as the best DC Animated flick since Wonder Woman. Though it suffers from voice performance problems at times and a few flat narrative beats, ultimately The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 is more successful than its predecessor as both a movie and Blu-ray.
