Beats Electronics LLC (also known as Beats by Dr. Dre, or simply Beats by Dre) is an American consumer audio products manufacturer headquartered in Culver City, California. [1] [2] The company was founded in 2006 by music producer Dr. Dre and record company executive Jimmy Iovine. Since 2014, it has been an Apple subsidiary.
Andre Romell Young (born February 18, 1965), known professionally as Dr. Dre, is an American rapper, record producer, record executive, and actor. He is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics, and co-founder of Death Row Records.
In 2006, Iovine and close friend, hip hop musician Dr. Dre, co-founded Beats Electronics. Two years later, the brand launched its first official set of headphones. [5] In late 2013, they began development for, and in 2014, launched Beats Music, which went on to become the framework for Apple Music. [6]
