The symphony’s dedicatee was German; and, had Beethoven had his way, its premiere would have been in Berlin, not in Rossini-obsessed Vienna. And herein lies a problem.

Dec 8, 2006 · Wand always gives a great performance of the central European classics like Beethoven, Brahms, and Bruckner. This is a wonderful interpretation of Beethoven 9. The let down, however, is in the sonics. The 24/96 remastering cannot cure the digital ills of the mid-1980s digital recording, with the mids congested and the highs a bit shouty.

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, is a choral symphony, the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1822 and 1824.It was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824.
