My head cannon is that Peeta only drank a few times and it brought up the hijacking so he abstained for the rest of his life. Katniss developed a drinking problem for a short time that Peeta helped her through. Katniss only drank in moderation after that and not around the kids.
Katniss was planning on eventually becoming Mockingjay after seeing her district destroyed, but only really gets moving when she realizes Peeta might be killed if the Rebellion wins (she claims she would’ve just run away if Peeta died).
Yeah I agree. The final scene is not just a sign for Katniss and Peeta but for Panem as well. I honestly think WE need to see that Katniss and Peeta are doing alright with their children to see that that Panem is fairing well enough for Katniss to have children. We have need to see all the effort, death, pain and sorrow was worth it in the end.
