Benjamin Tucker Tanner (December 25, 1835 – January 14, 1923) was an American clergyman and editor. He served as a bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church from 1886, and founded The Christian Recorder, an influential African American Methodist newspaper.

The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church bishop and editor Benjamin Tucker Tanner was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and worked as a barber while he attended Avery College (1852 – 1857) and Western Theological Seminary (1857 – 1860). In 1860 he was ordained a deacon and then an elder in the AME Church.
