Un Guglielmo de Saint-Geniès (morto nel 1292), frate predicatore, fu maestro nello Studium tolosano, ma non è accertato il grado di parentela con Bertrand. Nel 1311 Saint-Geniès, doctor decretorum, era membro della facoltà giuridica di Tolosa. Nel 1314 sottoscrisse gli statuti dell’università e nel 1315 era professore in utroque.
