- Gary Burton Quartet – Duster. Generally considered to be one of the earliest fusion albums, this 1967 LP finds legendary vibraphonist Gary Burton at the intersection of jazz and progressive rock, thanks in no small part to Larry Coryell’s acidic, blues-inflected guitar.

Jul 30, 2020 · Inspired as much by Williams’ first bandleader as it is Jimi Hendrix, Emergency!is something like Electric Ladylandwith the pop songs stripped out and in their place the eclectic global fusion inspirations of McLaughlin and Williams’ spoken-word interludes (which, admittedly, are the weakest part of the album).
