I think the 1980 BBC version, with Derek Jacoby as Hamlet, is the best. The others have strong moments, but Jacoby's Hamlet is the most complete and effective portrayal of the character's complexity. There's a reason Branagh cast Jacoby as Claudius in his version.
Even though it’s abridged, I think it outclasses the famous Branagh version in the title role, although some of the other acting in the Branagh version is good, especially ophelia, claudius, and gertrude. Yes, KB‘s version is also excellent. There are so many good renditions of this great work.
