    • Afua Richardson. Afua Richardson is a Big 3 veteran who has worked on various books including X-Men ’92, and Genius, a timely political thriller published by Image Comics in 2015.
    • Anthony Piper. Anthony Piper is best known for his work on Trill League. His cover for Terminus Media’s Route 3 #3 won a Glyph Award at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in 2014.
    • Ashley A. Woods. Ashley A. Woods got her start with her webcomic Millenia War (which, unfortunately, seems to have disappeared from the internet). She’s now the artist on one of my favorite comics at the moment: Niobe She is Life.
    • Brian Stelfreeze. Brian Stelfreeze provided covers for DC Comics’ Batman: Shadow of the Bat, as well as pencil work and inks on hundreds of other titles, including Boom Studios’ Day Men, which is a must-read.

    • Denys Cowan. After breaking into the comic book industry in the early 1980s, Cowan worked for a number of years on a variety of books for DC Comics, while also enjoying a stint as the regular artist on Power Man and Iron Fist for Marvel Comics.
    • Kyle Baker. Kyle Baker began work for Marvel Comics as an intern in the 1980s. He slowly began to work as an inker (after working as an assistant to the great Joe Rubinstein) before beginning to get assignments as a penciler by the end of the decade, most prominently on DC's The Shadow series, which he drew for the end of its run.
    • Olivier Coipel. Olivier Coipel sprang on to the scene with an out of the box approach to the Legion of Super-Heroes, but after polishing off the hard edges a bit, he quickly became one of the most prominent superhero artists working at Marvel.
    • Matt Baker. Matt Baker got his break in comic working for Jerry Iger's packaging studio, that is, a studio of artists who would supply comics directly to publishers so all the publishers would have to do was print the comics (obviously, eventually over time it was just easier and cheaper to pay the artists themselves).

    • Bitter Root. After previously working together on a relaunch of Power Man and Iron Fist at Marvel, David F. Walker and Sanford Greene reunited, along with veteran comic book creator Chuck Brown, to launch the Image Comics series Bitter Root in 2018.
    • Bingo Love. Created by Tee Franklin and Jenn St.- Onge, Bingo Love is an original graphic novel that follows two women that fall in love as teenagers but are separated by the prejudices of the time and move apart.
    • Excellence. One of the biggest Skybound Entertainment/Image launches from last year was Excellence, created by Brandon Thomas and Khary Randolph. The creator-owned series follows Spencer Dale, a young man whose father is a member of the Aegis, a secret society of magic users who use their incredible abilities to selflessly work to improve the world around them.
    • Day Men. Boom! Studios editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon and co-writer Michael Alan Nelson teamed with legendary artist Brian Stelfreeze to co-create the series Day Men.
