Therefore, when they had come together: This would be the last time they would see Jesus in His physical body, until they went to heaven to be with Him forever. Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey. “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.” And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. a. Act 1 – Creation. In the very beginning, God made the heavens and the earth. The earth was unproductive and empty and dark, but God’s spirit hovered over the waters. When God said, “Let there be light,” there was light. He separated light from darkness and called it “day” and “night.”. That was the first day of creation.
The book of Acts provides a bridge for the writings of the NT. As a second volume to Luke's Gospel, it joins what Jesus "began to do and to teach" ( 1:1 ; see note there) as told in the Gospels with what he continued to do and teach through the apostles' preaching and the establishment of the church.
