Jan 09, 2021 · Cherokee is the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway, so you can work your way north from there. The most scenic sections of the BRP are south and north of Asheville, so you definitely want to drive those stretches.

Quite a few prominent stops are within a short-ish drive from Asheville. They include the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center (MP 384, 12 minutes) and Folk Art Center (MP 382, 13 minutes) to start.
