Jan 31, 2006 · not really because some boxsets are priced lower then $5.99 per disc. It all depends on the set as to which club to buy it on and on which sale. It is true that boxsets never go on sale but they do ocasionally go with no shipping (if the total of all the discs in your order is over 5) at least that is the only way I have seen it so far.

Nov 22, 2006 · Seed_drill, I think you've nailed it. I have the same problem with them. I have a backlog of nearly-free selections from legal settlements, and nothing to "spend" them on. I really think BMG Music Service is making like Tower: slowly reducing the prices (in the form of ever-better offers) to clear out the warehouse - and then going out of business.
Apr 8, 2007 · Over time the average amounts to $8 unless the deal has changed recently and I don't think it has because I still get the 'We want you back' mailings. The BMG agreements of the last 2-3 years: 11 Free CDs (plus 2.79 shipping per CD) = 30.69. 1 Regular Price CD (18.98 + 2.79 shipping) = 21.77. Total is $52.46.
The other reason they were able to offer a lot of free or cheap CDs was because you always had to agree to buy a certain amount at full club price to get the free or cheap ones (and you always had to pay shipping and handling, even on the free ones).
