Bobby Allison. Robert Arthur Allison (born December 3, 1937) is a former American professional stock car racing driver and owner. Allison was the founder of the Alabama Gang, a group of drivers based in Hueytown, Alabama, where there were abundant short tracks with high purses.

Jan 19, 2023 · Bobby Allison's car flew into the air and landed on the fence after a blown engine and a cut tire in the Winston 500 at Talladega in 1987. The incident led to the introduction of restrictor plates and smaller carburetors to slow down the cars at the superspeedways.
