On September 4 Gustav persuaded Duke Bogislaw XIV of Pomerania to accept an alliance at Stettin, and by then the Swedish army had gained 26,000 more soldiers from the Stralsund garrison, mercenaries, and German recruits.
The border ran roughly along the Oder and Swine rivers, with Pomerania-Wolgast now consisting of Western Pomerania (without Stettin), and Pomerania-Stettin consisting of Farther Pomerania. George was the eldest son of Duke Bogislaw X of Pomerania and his second wife Anna Jagiellon, a daughter of King Casimir IV of Poland.

King Gustavus III, and his brother, the Duke Charles of Söderman-land (later Charles XIII) were present, and the latter presided at the lodge. Many brethren from the southern part of Sweden, Stockholm, from Pomerania, Greifswald, and Stralsund, were present; the names of the officers that assisted at the meeting are also given.
