It was founded in 1980 in the city of Martin, in what was then Czechoslovakia. The band won the Zlatý slavík music award in 1989, 1990, and again in 1991.

In 1986 they were joined by a second keyboard player, Bohuš Kantor, and in 1988 by a new lead vocalist, Pavol Habera. Team was signed to the Slovakian state-owned record label Opus , and recorded their debut album at the label’s digital-equipped studios in Bratislava.

Skupinu Team založili v roku 1980 gitarista Dušan Antalík a basgitarista Ivan Válek. Neskôr do zostavy pribudli ďalší inštrumentalisti - bubeník Ivan Marček a hráči na klávesy Milan Dočekal a Bohuš Kantor. Spevák Pavol Habera sa stal členom skupiny až v roku 1988.
