Welcome to Glasnevin. During the current Level 5 Covid restrictions, The National Botanic Gardens at both Glasnevin and Kilmacurragh are open.. Located just three kilometres from Dublin City Centre, the National Botanic Gardens are an oasis of calm and beauty, and entry is free.
The National Botanic Gardens at both Glasnevin and Kilmacurragh are open every day throughout the year, except 25 December (Christmas Day). There is no admission fee to walk and explore. The Glasshouses and Herbarium & Library will remain closed for the time being due to Coronavirus. The Garden Tearoom is open for takeaway food and drinks only.

Botanic Gardens - Glasnevin. The poet Thomas Tickell owned a house and small estate in Glasnevin and, in 1790, they were sold to the Irish Parliament and given to the Royal Dublin Society for them to establish Ireland's first botanic gardens. A double line of yew trees, known as "Addison's Walk" survives from this period.
Botanic Veterinary Hospital is located on the Botanic Road in Glasnevin, opposite the Botanic Gardens and just up the road from the “pyramid” church. This was the first branch of Anicare Veterinary Group to be established. It is a fully equipped Small Animal Hospital with on street disc parking. The hospital is open 7 days a week.
