When the book was published in 1964 the critics were unmerciful in their criticism and dislike of the book. William Goldman vowed at that time that he would never read another review of his written work. Goldman did, however, get the last laugh. "Boys and Girls Together" was one of the biggest Beach Novels and best sellers of the year.

Jul 31, 2001 · This is a well written book that gives us a look at an earlier time in the lives of young adults living in the late 40s. I enjoyed it 40+ years ago and I enjoyed again this time. "Boys and Girls Together" is a very well written character study into what many young people aspired too and the pretension with which they pursued these aspirations.
