It's quite interesting to learn that the name Highway 99 was originally derived from the U.S Route 99 that ends at the U.S. - Canada border (which was turned into 2223 kilometers long Interstate 5 later on).

The trouble is, BC is made of 5 north-south mountain ranges. Hwy 3 is a scenic drive, but one pass, Allison Pass, is 1342 metres.
