Oct 6, 2020 · Windows. This is way trickier on Windows (huge surprise). One option that does not require third-party tools, we can type ALT 0163 (as in hold down ALT while typing 0128 on the Num Pad, with Num Lock on). Yes that’s a little tricky to remember. Weird but it works. Many other characters can be typed that way, such as the € Euro Symbol with ALT 0128.

The same symbol is used for other currencies called pound, such as the Egyptian and Syrian pounds.
Sep 17, 2023 · To add the British currency symbol (£) using keyboard shortcuts, simply type the Unicode 00A3 and then press Alt+X keys on your keyboard. Place your cursor where you want to insert the pound character. Type the Unicode 00A3 on your document. Press Alt and X and then release the both keys.
To enter the Pound symbol using the Alt code, hold down the Alt key and, while keeping it pressed, type 156 or 0163 using the numeric keypad. Then, release the Alt key, and the Pound symbol (£) should appear. On an Apple Mac US keyboard, press the Option key and the number 3 key simultaneously.
Although there is no dedicated key for the Pound symbol on the keyboard, you can still use the keyboard to type it. You can also insert this symbol in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Docs.
