Kaper is perhaps best remembered as the composer of the jazz standards "On Green Dolphin Street" (lyrics by Ned Washington) and "Invitation" (lyrics by Paul Francis Webster) which were the respective title songs for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films Green Dolphin Street (1947) and Invitation (1952).

The theme music by Bronislau Kaper was originally used in A Life of Her Own (1950), but became a jazz standard after being used in this film and becoming known as "Invitation". Box office. “Kaper used one of his most indelible tunes twice: first as the theme to A Life of Her Own (1950), then as the theme to Invitation (1952). Why this happened is unclear today, but A Life of Her Own quickly vanished from theatres and it is likely that Kaper and M-G-M simply considered the tune too good to go to waste.
