We first came here to explore the Gorge, but over time, we have been introduced to many things to do in Morganton, the county seat, and its surroundings.

Burke County is located in west central North Carolina, in the state's Mountain region. It was formed in 1777 and named for Thomas Burke , delegate to the Continental Congress and governor of the state (1781-82).
The “Western State Capital,” Burke is a western, mountain county that has the highest number of government employees (500) outside of Raleigh. The region is also well known for its numerous state parks, and the South and Blue Ridge Mountains that pass through the county.
