Burlington Union Church, built c. 1892 Union Church (c. 1892) The original church in Burlington was a log structure erected near the village cemetery between 1808 and 1818 and used by the Patterson Creek Baptist Church.

It was in this second church building that Federal troops, during the Civil War, used its facilities as a barracks. Several northern soldiers are buried in this cemetery. The third house of worship, the present Burlington Union Church, was planned around the stove in Umstot and Wilson's store.
