Mar 8, 2024 · Breast ultrasound (also called sonography) is a safe, painless, non-invasive imaging test that uses sound waves to produce pictures of the interior of the breast. It shows breast tissue changes that may not appear on a mammogram and helps to confirm the type of mass, if one is present.
Diagnostic mammograms. Mammograms are used to look at a woman’s breast if she has breast symptoms or if something unusual is seen on a screening mammogram. When used in this way, they are called diagnostic mammograms. They may include extra views (images) of the breast that aren’t part of screening mammograms.
Types of Breast Imaging & Biopsy. We use a wide variety of tools and technologies to screen, detect, and diagnose breast cancer. If cancer is detected, these tests help our doctors find the type of cancer, as well as determine the stage and location of the cancer.
