The original church of the Trnovo district was built by architect Candido Zulliani in 1753. The only surviving items from that church are a few paintings, including those of St. John the Baptist and St. Anthony by Valentin Metzinger.

In 1756 the Ljubljana architect Candido Zulliani, on the basis of a commission by the Carniolan Estates, created a plan and a wooden model of an adaptation of the riding centre into a provincial theatre.
It is a Baroque branch church that was built in the Baroque style from 1740 until 1747, probably upon the plans by the architect Candido Zulliani. It has the status of a cultural monument of local significance (No. 1979).
