Carlisle Bay's name derives from James Hay (the 1st Earl of Carlisle) who, as the second Lord Proprietor of Barbados, claimed Barbados in 1627 on behalf of King Charles I of England. Carlisle Bay goes from Pebbles Beach through to Browns Beach towards Bridgetown. It has the softest white sands and crystal clear blue water. You can sun bath, swim and even dive in safety. Barbados is gorgeous. Carlisle Bay is fantastic and it is not to far from the port. There are several beaches within Carlisle Bay, The Boatyard and Copacabana are just two of them. The sand is white and soft. The water is very clear and calm. You can rent loungers and an umbrella for $20.00 , for the day.
