The Mystery Woman (Carrie Fisher) - whose true name is never revealed - is a female antagonist in the 1980 comedy film The Blues Brothers.
She is the ex-fiance of the film's protagonist 'Joliet' Jake Blues. After she and Jake were engaged to be married and he never showed up for the wedding, she hasn't forgiven Jake for standing her up. Following Jake's release from prison, she repeatedly targets him and his brother Elwood. The Mystery Woman has a preference for high-powered weapons, going to extreme means to accomplish her goal.
The Mystery Woman first appears during a night scene after Jake and Elwood have escaped the police following a long car chase. She attempts to assassinate Jake using a rapid-fire rocket launcher, which results in great damage to the building. The brothers escape harm and dust themselves down. Like many scenes in the movie, this is played for laughs.
After her failed first attempt, the Mystery Woman returns the following morning and remotely detonates explosive charges (which she presumably planted in advance, suggesting a deep hatred for Jake). This results in complete demolition of the building - as before the brothers escape harm.
The Mystery Woman is seen reading an instruction manual for an M-79 flame thrower while varnishing her fingernails in a salon called Curl up and Dye. She is presumably the owner of the salon, but this is never confirmed. She then uses the weapon on the brothers while they are in a phone booth next to a conveniently placed propane tank. This results in another huge explosion which launches the booth into the air. After the female assassin drives off, the booth crashes into the ground. Once more the brothers are uninjured.
After Jake, Elwood and their band perform a large-scale gig at a packed venue to raise money for their local church, they escape through the sewers to avoid the police and other people out to get them. However, the Mystery Woman is waiting for them - this time armed with an assault rifle. After shooting wildly, the villainess explains her motive. Jake falls to his knees and begs forgiveness, which leads to him and the Mystery woman kissing. He somewhat foolish rejects her a second time, pushing her to the floor. As the brothers make their getaway in a vehicle, the Mystery Woman appears one final time to fire her weapon.
