Cartoon Network Studios is the in-house American animation production studio of TV network Cartoon Network. Originally formed on October 21, 1994 as a division of Hanna-Barbera Productions, it has since served as the network's main production studio, also producing shows for sister networks [adult swim], Cartoonito and the Max streaming service. Most of their shows are currently distributed for the network by Cartoon Network Productions.

Its first program, The What-a-Cartoon! Show, aired in 1995, which also spun off Dexter's Laboratory in the process, with its first season becoming an instant success. After Hanna-Barbera's parent company, Turner Entertainment, merged with Time Warner, the Cartoon Network Studios name would briefly be phased out, with cartoons produced from 1997 to 2000 opting to use the Hanna-Barbera name (this included the second season of Dexter's Laboratory).

When Hanna-Barbera was folded under Warner Bros. Animation, the Cartoon Network Studios name returned, and began to produce many more popular shows in a new building in Burbank, California, such as Samurai Jack, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Time Squad, Ben 10, and newer seasons of a few former Hanna-Barbera shows. They also produced their only theatrical film to date in 2002, The Powerpuff Girls Movie, which received positive reviews from critics but unfortunately bombed at the box office. Later on in the decade, they would venture into producing live-action shows and pilots, including the infamous Out of Jimmy's Head, cited as one of the major factors in the network's downfall from 2006 to 2009.

In 2010, the studio would recoup from viewer criticism and abandon live-action entirely when the network picked up the pitch pilot for Adventure Time - which rival network Nickelodeon turned down - subsequently shifting show production to Cartoon Network Studios and beginning the network's renaissance period, producing other hit shows such as Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe, Clarence, We Bare Bears, OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes and Infinity Train. They would also produce the fifth and final season of Samurai Jack in 2017 to air on [adult swim], receiving critical acclaim and becoming a ratings success. By the end of the decade, the studio began to outgrow their Burbank, California building, and closed it in 2023, moving their office to the bigger Warner Bros. Second Century building adjacent to the Warner Bros. lot, alongside Warner Bros. Animation, where both studios reside today.
