Scope. The scope of the project is the coverage of elections and referendums anywhere in the world, from a national level to a local level. A comprehensive entry with the most recent results on the national level worldwide can be found at the List of election results by country (note: a long document).

For maps of future elections, "hold" is used for "incumbent intent is known and is eligible, or incumbent is running for re-election", whereas "gain" is used for "incumbent is retiring/term-limited". Following this, there is an additional color used, which is also used when an election has taken place but not been called yet.

USA election maps should follow enwiki's NCELECT guideline. In particular, their names should be derivable from their respective articles' names. Colors used should be those listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Elections and Referendums/USA Legend Colors. For nationwide maps, results map is an appropriate suffix.
