The erotic cabinet. An urban legend states that an erotic cabinet was ordered by Catherine the Great, and was adjacent to her suite of rooms in Gatchina. According to said urban legend, the furniture was highly eccentric with tables that had large penises for legs.
A center table with steel diamonds and cut silver, made by the imperial armory in Tula, Russia, around 1780–85, is a rare and elaborately worked example of Tula ware, the Russian decorative arts. The table was likely given to Catherine the Great by her mother, Empress Elizabeth, and later acquired by her son, Paul I, who merged it with his crown jewels at the Winter Palace.
