In the Incoterms® 2020 rules, as in previous versions, Cost and Freight (CFR) requires the seller to place the goods on board the vessel contracted by themselves. From that point on risk of loss or damage to the goods transfers to the buyer.
Incoterms CFR is short for "Cost and Freight." Under CFR Incoterms, the seller clears goods for export, delivers them onboard the ship at the port of departure, and pays for transport to the named port of destination.

Sep 15, 2020 · When goods are bought or sold Cost and Freight (CFR) it means that the Seller is responsible for the delivery of the goods to a ship and loading the goods onto the ship. The seller is also responsible for any customs export documentation and export licences if needed. Also, the seller is responsible in case of any inspections.
