May 24, 2018 · Japan Suicide Awareness Rally. Chako van Leeuwen is organizing this fundraiser. Japan has one of the highest suicide rate in the world. This is an event to bring awareness to this problem through music, dance and the arts while giving a message of hope to the youth of Japan through the love of Jesus Christ.
One of Leeds’s clients was Chako van Leeuwen, a producer of the 1978 horror/comedy movie, “Piranha”—described by Weingart as “very successful”—which was a parody of the 1975 hit film, “Jaws.” Leeds was not only her lawyer in 1978, but helped secure financing for the film from his friend Mike Medavoy, then the head of United Artists film studio.
Chako Van Leeuwen, President. A talented actress in Japan, Chako starred in forty-seven films in her late teens. She is credited with saving one of Japan’s major studios from financial ruin with her successful films.
It starred Hisako Tsukuba, who made nearly fifty films beginning in 1957 and recorded some music before becoming Chako van Leeuwen and shifting into movie production in the U.S. She’s put together eight movies as a producer, but her prized property is the Piranha franchise.
