- Root Chakra. Color: Red. The root chakra is our foundation. It develops in our first seven years of life and deals with survival and security needs. It's represented by the color red, and when out of balance, we may feel insecure, unsafe, and even disconnected from reality.
- Sacral Chakra. Color: Orange. The sacral chakra, which is located in your lower abdomen, is all about creativity and sexuality. It's associated with orange and is formed in the seven years after your root chakra until age 14.
- Solar Plexus Chakra. Color: Yellow. Moving from the lower to the upper abdomen, you'll find your solar plexus chakra, which is associated with the color yellow.
- Heart Chakra. Color: Green. Up next is the heart chakra—located just above your heart in the center of your chest—which is associated with the color green.
- The Root Chakra: Red. This particular energy center is located at the base of the spine. Its Sanskrit name, Muladhara, is a term formed out of the words ‘root’ and ‘support.’
- The Sacral Chakra: Orange. The sacral chakra is located at the pelvis and is the center of pleasure. It relates to gut feelings and intuition. And when this energy is healthy, it brings a powerful and natural feeling of intimacy.
- The Solar Plexus Chakra: Yellow. Located at the center of the body, the solar plexus chakra plays an important role in the development of personal power.
- The Heart Chakra: Green. Green is the color of the heart. This chakra, which is located at the center of the chest, promotes a general feeling of well-being and vibrant health as it’s associated with growth and renewal.
- Muladhara, the Root Chakra: Red Color. Sanskrit meaning: “Root Support” Color: Red. Red has the densest vibration of all the colors, and is the most stimulating.
- Svadisthana, the Sacral Chakra: Orange Color. Sanskrit meaning: “Your own seat,” or “One’s own place.” Color: Orange. Orange is enthusiastic, joyful, and the color of vitality and strength.
- ManiPura, the Solar Plexus Chakra: Yellow Color. Sanskrit meaning: “Jewel city” Color: Yellow. The strength of yellow shines bright like the uncovered sun, and illuminates the “I” — your sense of self.
- Anahata, the Heart Chakra: Green Color. Sanskrit meaning: “Unhurt,” unstruck, immaculate, unspoiled. Color: Green. The color of life; naturally calming, healing, and supportive.
- Mountain Pose [Root chakra] This pose involves you standing up straight with your knees slightly bent and your feet spread apart enough so you don’t feel off balance, while moving your shoulders back slightly and breathing slowly.
- Knee-to-Chest [Sacral chakra] Done while you’re laying down, this pose will find you pulling one or both of your knees to your chest, so you look like you’re curling up into a ball.
- Spinal twist [Solar plexus chakra] The spinal twist is done while sitting on a mat or a chair and aims to zero in on your belly button. “As you stay tall while sitting, point your knees, hips and toes in one direction,” Bar says.
- Fan pose [Heart chakra] A modified version of the fish pose, the fan pose aims to open your chest up. “You’re opening up like a fan,” Bar says. “Put your hands behind you and hold the seat back with straight arms, while you’re seated.
