Overview. Inspired by a true story, "Chasing the Green" tells the story of two young brothers who become millionaires during the early 1990s. Their ambition and drive lead them into conflict with FTC officials, where an over-zealous bureaucrat attempts to destroy their company.
"Chasing the Green" is about young ambition in the 1990s, and the intense desire to succeed. It is also about two independent, intensely driven men unready to accept the importance of working in an interdependent world. They learn, late in the game, that when we refuse to acknowledge the demands of others more powerful, we do so at our peril.
Aside from the film's inherent structural flaws, director Emanuel hits all of his marks as well as can be expected. London is fine in the lead role, though he comes across more as lazy frat boy than scrappy bootstrapper, and his tangential romance with pool shark Lynn (Heather McComb) is far more engaging than the primary plot.
