From what I read in Orbach's biography, by 2004 his prostate cancer had reached the point where chemotherapy was finally needed as opposed to the hormone therapy he had been on. This forced him to leave L&O and take on a part-time schedule with Trial by Jury.
Chris Orbach (born Christopher Ben Orbach) is an actor who played several different characters in Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He is the son of Jerry Orbach and Marta Curro. He is married to his wife Nicole and together they have one son, Aaron, born in 2014.
