Ch’ungju, city, North Ch’ungch’ŏng (Chungcheong) do (province), central South Korea. Connected with Seoul by water transport on the Han River, it was the administrative and economic centre of the province until the provincial government was removed to Ch’ŏngju (Cheongju) in 1909.

- Cheongju Sangdansanseong Fortress. Sangdangsanseong Fortress in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do is a fortress built along the natural slopes close to downtown Cheongju.
