Clare Coulter (born 1942; age ~82) is an actress who played Kalzara Bix in the Star Trek: Discovery fifth season episode "Jinaal".

Coulter was born in Toronto as the daughter of Irish playwright John Coulter and Canadian poet and short story writer Olive Clare Primrose. The family moved to England when Clare was nine and she was enrolled to a theatre school in London. She made her screen acting debut at the age of fourteen in an episode of ITV Television Playhouse in the UK.

During her acting career, spanning seven decades, Coulter has mostly been active in the theatre, but also made several film and television appearances. Her noted stage roles have included Eleanor in the original production of George F. Walker's Love and Anger, the first English-language production of Michel Tremblay's Albertine in Five Times, and a 2013 Harbourfront Centre production of William Shakespeare's King Lear, in which she portrayed the title role.

She is probably best known to mainstream audiences for her co-starring role as Headmistress Amelia Cackle in the British-Canadian children's fantasy series The Worst Witch (1998-2001) and its spin-off The New Worst Witch (2005-07).

Coulter also co-starred in the 1985 miniseries Evergreen (with Gordon Clapp). She made guest appearances in episodes of series such as The Ray Bradbury Theater, Due South (starring Callum Keith Rennie), Emily of New Moon (starring Stephen McHattie and Sheila McCarthy), American Gothic (with Virginia Madsen), Transplant (with Sochi Fried), and had a recurring role in Fargo (with Paul McGillion, Michael Copeman, Conrad Coates, and Kyle Gatehouse).

Her film appearances include By Design (1981, with Saul Rubinek) for which she was nominated for a Genie Award as Best Supporting Actress, The Wars (1983, with Alan Scarfe), A Simple Wish (1997, with Amanda Plummer and Terri Garr), The Five Senses (1999), Away from Her (2006, with Grace Lynn Kung and Andrew Moodie), and Cross My Heart (2017).
