Clayton is a town in and the county seat of Barbour County, Alabama, United States. The population was 3,008 at the 2010 census, [2] up from 1,475 in 2000.
On December 12, 2017, the Associated Press called the election for Jones; however, Moore refused to concede. [14] [15] Jones' victory was widely labeled a major upset. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2018, becoming the first Democratic U.S. senator from Alabama since Howell Heflin left office in 1997. [16]
