Winter ( c. October 2005 – November 11, 2021) was a bottlenose dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida, United States, and was widely known for having a prosthetic tail. Winter was the subject of the 2009 book Winter's Tale, the 2011 film Dolphin Tale, and its 2014 sequel .

Nov 11, 2022 · Winter the Dolphin passed away at the age of 16 on November 11, 2021 due to a gastrointestinal abnormality. At just 2-months-old, she was found alone with crab trap rope bound so tightly around her tail flukes that they eventually fell off during rehabilitation due to a lack of blood flow.
At Clearwater Marine Aquarium, visitors can enjoy seeing and learning about rescued dolphins, sea turtles, otters and other marine animals.
